01. Which is the best time during the month to have sexual intercourse to achieve pregnancy?

The moment of the ovulation is the indicated so that the encounter between the oocyte and the spermatozoa takes place to form an embryo, considering a normal menstrual cycle of 28 days, this approximately happens towards half of the cycle, day 14.

02. My husband and I are planning to have a baby. I have irregular cycles and I always feared I could not achieve pregnancy. Should I visit a specialist before starting looking for a baby?

When one decides to look for a baby must be sure to be in an optimal state of health. For that, you had to make a gynecological control, but a reproductive consultation is only justified if after leaving the contraceptive method for more than a year, you have not become pregnant.

03. My husband has a sperm production defect and we have to undergo an assisted reproduction procedure (IVF / ICSI), we are afraid of a multiple pregnancy of 4 or 5 babies. Is this usual?

The multiple pregnancies as product of reproductive treatments are more frequent than in the spontaneous gestations. All the protocols that are used in reproductive medicine try to obtain unique pregnancies, making controlled ovulation inductions, transferring little amount of embryos in treatments of high complexity. Of all ways, multiple pregnancies of more than 3 babies are less and less frequent and can be considered as a failure of the procedure.

04. Is there any possibility to know which are my fertile days or when am I ovulating?

If your cycles are regular, the ovulation usually takes place towards the half of each one, in general, goes accompanied of signs as increase of the vaginal flow, increase of sexual desire, annoyances in the low part of the abdomen, although you can not notice none of them. 05. What is endometriosis? Does it bring about sterility?

The endometrium is the most internal layer of the uterus, that is prepared every month to receive an embryo. The endometriosis is one of the most frequent causes of sterility in the woman and consists of the presence of endometrium outside the uterus, like for example, in the ovary, the tubes of Fallopian, or in other zones of the abdomen and pelvis. 06. Which are the possibilities of miscarriage if this already happened to me once at the 8th week of pregnancy?

The possibilities of suffering the loss of a pregnancy in precocious form in patients that never before has happened are of 15%; this means that of each 100 pregnancies, 15 can be lost or stop. Most of these patients return to become pregnant without difficulties and have its babies. The repeated loss of pregnancies is less frequent and it is associated to defined problems.

07. We stopped contraception four months ago so as to achieve pregnancy but we did not have any success yet. What should we do?

Four months without obtaining pregnancy are not sufficient to suppose that a couple is sterile. It is important that they continue maintaining sexual relations in regular form and to wait for at least a year before making a formal consultation.

08. How could bulimia and/or anorexia affect a woman's fertility?

This type of disorders of the feeding usually brings serious problems of health, among them gynecological and reproductive. So that, to release the necessary hormones for the ovulation it is needed an amount of greasy weave in the body that the women who undergo bulimia or anorexy can not maintain. For that reason it is important to take care of us from always, for being reproductively healthy women, and to think about our children from long time before planning to have them.

09. What is In-Vitro Fertilization?

The fecundation is the moment at which the spermatozoa penetrates in the oocyte forming an embryo. In the in-Vitro fertilization in a lab capsule the oocyte with the spermatozoa are placed in an atmosphere similar to the Fallopian tube so that this can happens. Once we counted on with the embryos, these are placed within the maternal uterus waiting for their implantation.

10. Which are the probabilities of pregnancy if I am 38 years old and I have never been pregnant?

The fertile life of a woman concludes when her ovulatories menstrual cycles also concludes, this means that if you have 38 years but you still ovulating, you have chances of get pregnant. After the 35 years, the reproductive capacity decreases because the oocytes begin to get old, this makes difficult but for not any reason prevents that you obtain a pregnancy; although it is important that you do not let pass too much time.
