Artificial Insemination

This procedure consists in placing sperm directly in the woman’s uterus to facilitate fertilization.

In Vitro Fertilization

This technique consists in obtaining eggs, fertilizing them in the lab with sperm and then transferring the embryos to the uterus.

ICSI

The injection of a single sperm directly into an egg under a microscope using micromanipulation devices has allowed many couples who never would have gotten pregnant to conceive a child.

In 1992, a major advance was made in the field of assisted reproduction: the microinjection of sperm. This way, men with low-grade sperm or a low sperm count are able to become fathers without the need for seeking out a sperm donor. Almost all men who have had some reproductive problem (in ejaculation, in the testicles or in any other function related to sperm production) can have children. Sperm can be extracted from different part of the masculine reproductive system. Later, the sperm is injected in eggs obtained through hormonal stimulation procedures.
