First Center for Cryopreservation

In 1997, CER founded the first bank for cryostorage in the western hemisphere. As a result, women who come for a consultation at CER have the chance to extract their own eggs during the years in which the quality of eggs is the highest; women can thus guarantee their chance of having a child in the future when they are ready. Our cryostorage bank also offers an invaluable service to women who must undergo chemotherapy or radiation therapy that could damage their sexual gametes (eggs) or who are suffering from a type of cancer that could affect the ovaries.

CER also allows women who must undergo cancer treatments the chance to store part of the healthy ovarian tissue. Later, the tissue can be transplanted when the woman has recovered.

In a sterile cryostorage area kept at extremely low temperatures (-196º centigrade), eggs donated by our patients can also be stored to later help other women become mothers.

Finally, the bank also allows women the chance to store frozen eggs instead of freezing the embryos produced during in vitro fertilization.
